“My story with the Sabar”
This is a danced journey between memory and rhythm. Through this solo, I pay homage to my grandfather, to his quiet strength, and to what he passed on to me: respect, patience, and a love of rhythm. This project is a way of saying thank you to him, through the language I know best: dance.
Sabar, for me, is a way of speaking with the
ancestors. It is in this vibration that I find my grandfather again, his voice, his presence, his silence too.
This play is a conversation between him and me — between what he left me and what I am becoming today.
I want to keep this memory alive in my body, to blend the
tradition and my own expression to tell a story of
lineage, transmission, love and respect.
Music/sound: Drums, voices, everyday soundscapes (soundtrack or live performance)
Lighting: Warm, focused light, varying according to the poem and rhythm
