Four years after the death of her father, Daisy Phillips explores his legacy, both within herself and through the dozens of notebooks he left behind, filled with thousands of poems.
A brilliant yet deeply introverted man, a worker and an immigrant, he found in writing what he could not find in direct communication with others. His daughter often found herself “interpreting” between him and the outside world… and yet, much of his life and experience will remain forever unknowable to her.
Some strikingly simple, others extraordinarily complex, his poems become a guide for Daisy as she creates a reflection on interpretation, translation, and empathy, as well as on the poetry that resides within each of us and does not always know how to express itself.
